Recently featured in Best and Fabulous magazines, 72-year-old Chrissy Blake is rewriting the rules of ageing.

As a Consultant Plastic Surgeon, my goal is never to change who a patient is, but rather to help their outward appearance reflect their inner vitality. It has been an absolute privilege to work with Chrissy Blake, a 72-year-old clinical PA company owner and grandmother of four from north Essex, whose empowering story recently captured national attention with features in both Best and Fabulous magazines.

Chrissy first came to my clinic with a very clear vision: inspired by figures like Kris Jenner, she refused to let age dictate her lifestyle or confidence, and she wanted to future-proof her appearance. Over the course of four years, we embarked on a carefully staged, comprehensive surgical journey to achieve exactly that.

Here is a closer look at the procedures we utilised to help Chrissy achieve her goals, and why knowing when to say no was the most important part of her care.

Phase 1: Comprehensive Facial Rejuvenation (May 2021)

During our initial consultation in 2021, Chrissy expressed significant dissatisfaction with how her lower face and neck had aged throughout her sixties. The skin had crinkled and sagged, resulting in what she described as a turkey neck.

To achieve a harmonious, natural result, isolated procedures are rarely enough. I recommended a combined approach: a face and neck lift, alongside upper and lower blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery).

    • The Face and Neck Lift: By carefully lifting and securing the underlying muscle structures (the SMAS layer) rather than simply pulling the skin, we were able to address the sagging in her neck and restore a crisp, youthful jawline.
    • The Blepharoplasty: The eyes are the focal point of the face. By removing the heavy, excess skin from her upper eyelids and addressing the tired bags beneath her lower eyelids, we ensured the upper half of her face matched the rejuvenated lower half.

Following a six-week recovery period, which included 4 a.m. dog walks to hide her initial swelling Chrissy was thrilled. The £30,000 procedure did exactly what we planned: she still looked like herself, but a fresher, firmer, and younger version.

Phase 2: Restoring Proportion with Breast Reduction (2022)

The confidence Chrissy gained from her facial surgery brought her back to my operating table the following year. Following the menopause, her breasts had continued to grow, eventually reaching an EE cup. She hated the size, found it incredibly difficult to find clothes that fit properly, and felt the heavy breasts made her look larger overall.
We performed a breast reduction to bring her down to a much more proportionate C cup. Costing £12,400, this procedure involves removing excess breast tissue and skin, and then lifting the remaining tissue into a higher, more youthful position. It is often one of the most physically relieving surgeries I perform, instantly improving posture and clothing fit.

Phase 3: Body Contouring After Weight Loss (April 2025)

Chrissy’s dedication to her wellbeing culminated in an impressive 3-stone weight loss journey over 18 months, aided by Mounjaro. She successfully dropped from 12st to 9st, and from a dress size 16 to a 6.

However, as is incredibly common with significant weight loss, she was left with a substantial amount of loose skin that began to dictate what she could wear. Because skin that has been stretched for decades cannot shrink back through diet or exercise, surgical excision is the only solution.

In April 2025, I performed a £29,000 body contouring procedure consisting of a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) and an arm lift (brachioplasty). By surgically removing the lax skin and tightening the abdominal wall, we were able to finally reveal the lean, size-6 physique she had worked so hard to achieve.

    The Art of Saying No

Perhaps the most crucial moment in my professional relationship with Chrissy occurred recently. Thrilled with her weight loss, she asked me to perform a second facelift.

As an ethical surgeon, my primary duty is to protect my patients, sometimes from themselves. I firmly said no. I explained to Chrissy that performing another lift would cross the line from a natural enhancement to an unnatural and tight appearance.
I am delighted that she respected my medical advice. Instead of over-operating, she maintains her radiant results through a disciplined home skincare routine, alongside conservative Botox and filler treatments.

Today, at 72, Chrissy tells me she looks and feels the best she has in decades, a sentiment echoed in her recent interviews in Best and Fabulous. Her journey is a testament to the power of expertly planned, consultant-led aesthetic surgery, and the beautiful results that happen when a patient and surgeon work together with a shared vision of natural grace.
